The lead instructor of the Dental Technology Center of Hawaii Dental Assisting Program is Lisa Yi. Lisa has had a prominent career running the UCLA school of Dentistry, Oral Radiology Department for the past 35 years. She has returned to Hawaii to help impart her knowledge on the local students to help fill the demand of good quality dental assistants in Hawaii. She obtained her Radiology Physic and Education from the UC Berkeley Extension and currently holds a Dental Laboratory Maxillofacial Radiology Technician License. She is an RDA(registered dental assitant) and is the only instructor in Hawaii with both of these licenses. Her extensive knowledge of both 2D and 3D imaging enables her to stand out from the rest of current instructors in the state of Hawaii. If you look you can even find her in the nationally published book “Modern Dental Assisting”, which is the textbook used by most programs nation wide and the book we use in our program.

Dental Assisting Program of Honolulu

This dental assisting program is an intense 3 month program designed to give students in Honolulu, Hawaii the ability to get out and start working and earning money right away. The dental assisting program will give students the background to get a good job in the dental field as a dental assistant or front office staff member. You will get both didactic and hands on practice in a technology rich environment. You will learn to take both 2D and 3D images. You will learn to do intra oral scanning and video, the ins and outs of CadCam technology and restorations(including Cerec), and the basics of 3D printing as well. This is the most comprehensive course incorporating both traditional dental assisting techniques and new advanced protocols. This is the only program that teaches intraoral scanning and 3D imaging in the state.
